Safe Dental Work While You Relax Comfortably
For many, the thought of going to the dentist brings anxiety and fear. This is perfectly natural, although it can cause you to put off much-needed dental checkups and cleanings for years. Unfortunately, avoiding the dentist can spell disaster for your oral health.
At Neal C. Green, D.D.S., Inc. you don’t have to be afraid, because we offer conscious sedation dentistry for all of our dental services. By prescribing sedative medication before your appointment and offering nitrous oxide gas (“laughing gas”) for an extra fee, you can relax in comfort as we work on your teeth.
We offer conscious sedation dentistry for the following services:
- Root scaling and planing
- Root canals
- Dental surgery
- Periodontal treatment
- Implant restorations
How Conscious Sedation Dentistry Works
During your initial consultation, Dr. Green will determine the best treatment plan to meet your oral health needs. You can freely discuss any anxiety you are experiencing, and we will help address it so you feel completely confident and comfortable leading up to your treatment.
We offer the following types of sedation:
- Oral sedation: This moderate form of sedation is provided in pill form. We will prescribe you a pill that can be taken up to an hour before your scheduled procedure.
- Inhalation sedation: By placing a mask over your nose, you will inhale nitrous oxide, or “laughing gas,” which offers quick relief from anxiety. This service comes with an additional fee.
You can relax while we perform your dental treatment, and we can even provide additional sedation with nitrous oxide gas that will put you in a calming state.
Am I a Candidate for Sedation Dentistry?
Often, those who fear the dentist do not keep up with the recommended twice-yearly checkups and cleanings. This can compound the problem, as you’ll require more extensive dental treatment to restore your oral health down the line. We will perform a thorough dental examination where you can discuss your anxiety about impending treatment before we formulate a treatment plan. This can help us come to the best decision on how to address your fears.
If we determine conscious sedation is a good option for you, Dr. Green will prescribe a sedative pill to be taken about an hour before your dental appointment. You will need a companion to drive you to and from our office if you are given a sedative.
